“Cape Town Highlanders Freedom of the City Parade”
On Saturday, 20 April 2013, the Cape Town Highlanders (CTH) celebrated 128 years of continuous service to the people of Cape Town and South Africa with a parade through the centre of town. Having been granted the Freedom of the City of Cape Town on 10 October 1967, the Regiment is permitted to march through the heart of the Mother City with ‘bayonets fixed, colours flying, and drums beating’. They traditionally exercise this right as part of the Regiment’s birthday celebrations.
