On Saturday, 1 March 2014, Lieutenant Colonel Andre van der Bijl JCD stepped down as commanding officer of the Cape Town Highlanders, having served in this position since 2006. His successor is Lt Col Tienie Lott, who has 19 years of Regular Force service and 17 years in the Reserve Force. The Regiment celebrates its 129th birthday this year.

The Change-of-Command parade was held at the Castle of Good Hope, in front of many invited guests and members of the Defence Reserves and Regulars, including Major General R.C. Andersen, Chief of Defence Reserves.
